2009/9/28 Stay/LeaveAs most of fellows in audit dept are doing, I am taking my Part Payment Leave all the same after the CICPA Exam. The biggest news for the week was that the firm distributed the salary letter last Monday.
Anyhow, before the clarifying on salary markup, the lake itself was not peaceful at all. After that, I on the BBS can see more and more auditors from big 4 are expressing their dissatisfaction or their anger. So, do not be hoping for any miracle, cause it's impossible from happening. The world has changed. Big 4 should no more have the glory or advantage, although it's still a good starting point for graduates. We came here, and we learned things. We can choose to leave just like we have choosed to come and stay.
I think I have choosed to stay at least for one more year. Seeing around, the damned hard market has been fulled of big 4 auditors. Sign~ And I see I still have areas to be improved as an auditor. Say to be more efficient and well managing priorities. I don't know what will happen next year. Be the change you want to see in the world. Wish all guys good luck and have a good time during the National Holiday! 2009/8/6 in SummerGot away from the hot Shanghai, I was arrived at Qiqihar again at the beginning of July. The weather was pretty good, evan a little bit chilling when the night came. Although the job itself was not good, to had got a job here in Qiqihar was better than somewhere southern. As usual, the head-office reduced the timecost budget of our site again. To avoid of a overrun, Jinming released Steve and Stephanie. It's OK. Things were supposed to still be under control. But the really bad news was the airborne Lisa. As expected, she was curious about any thing , no matter how significant or negligible the issue was. Faint! Three weeks long fieldwork. Nine field team-members. One nagging sister. What a fit-together! Anyhow, we in deed were familiar with the engagement.
Frankly speaking, I was not in a mood of working at all. Then I complained a lot. Jason did the same. Lol! Looks he found some true friends like me who was deeply disagreeing the policy of the firm. However, work always is work. Time was short. Manager was tough. And we must be faster and stronger. Gladly, we did it. We met the deadline and we had our tour trip for the first time. In case this was my last time being on this engagement. I drumed for somewhere a trip during the interim job. Our decision was the Inner Mongolia city, Manzhouli. We sprent a weekend in the city to enjoy the blue sky, wild grass and some exoticism. To had seen all these, it's worth to had taken the long-drawn night train. Say 10 hours for one-way.
People's life there in Manzhouli looks easy and joyful. More and more, I felt tired over my home Shanghai. I like her charming and fashion. But we all know the living here is damned hard. When you think yourself earn a lot in the city life, there you already have lost more. What am I supposed to do... 2009/3/28 Dark AgeIn the history of Europe, the Medieval was named the Dark Age, for its chaos caused by mainly battles. Culture stopped and man lived in pain. Hopelessness filled the air. But it's history.
There was a track in the OST of Kill Bill. The track's name, I remember, was Battle without Honor or Humanity. In the story, Uma was a killer taking her revenge all around the world. With the rhythm of the track, Uma completed her killing the Crazy 88, cold-blooded. But it's movie.
We are in the firm suffering the so-called finance crisis. Job cutting, volunteer overtime, even nowadays wage reduced leave scheme. I don't know how long and how far these things will last. I can't even see the end of this peak season. It's the worst I sufferred for these year. Honestly, being through these two month long inhuman life, I care nothing more. Sometimes, I lost myself amd I become irritable. That's not what I want.
April is coming. Just try to cook a easy life! 2008/11/19 The Bank JobIt's sad. I have to run down all my leave banks. Just like I spent all my bank saving in one night. No. I should say I was robbed of the bank saving! Sigh~ It's a difficult time. Hold on! 2008/11/12 Bad SeasonJust returned from Qiqihar for some days, I heard that we might shortly go there again the next month. I can't tell whether it is a good news or bad one. The good thing is that I can have some code to charge during the next month. Thereon, I can have more chance to cash out all my leave banks. It's bad season. I should be and I really be grateful to have a job and have jobs to do. Hope everything gets better. Take pains. 2008/10/13 CNR 080930It's fifth period that I'm working on the CNR engagement. Just so so. Though the life seems busy, hours are chargeable. We have several new staff on our site for this period end. All of them are from good colleges or nice majors, but it's hard to balance or split all working among the team. Maybe I should assign some sections to these new guys. Hard jobs are critical important to juniors. I remember the time when I was on CTE Shanghai team. It's really a tiring time. Anyhow, with rich harvest.
It's the first day for the field work. The client disappoint us again. Most of the PBC they once promised to give by the end of the day, they just get nothing done. I have to push them little by little. Once upon a time, I did not care about any deadline. However, I have changed in my mind for some reasons. I mean it, meet all deadlines, even it may cost a lot. How is the arrangement for 080930? There are a series of tight deadlines, just like usual. The good thing is we still having a stable team.
We went to a supermart after dinner today. In the taxi, I went through the stores and buildings along side the streets. It's a common northeastern city of our country. One year ago, when I was on my first time travelling in northeastern China, I just felt the same, but more slighting than nowadays. I have got used to the life there, I can say that. Quite a different city from Shanghai, the city is small and simple. I like the sky here, wide, blue and flawless. It will be perfect when my Shanghai gets such kind of wonderful sky. I came here last Friday, just had three nights. But I'm in missing of the lovely big Shanghai. 2008/10/5 Right From the StartThe fullfilled holiday is over. What next is the long long CNR booking. Of course, the City Qiqihar again. The team building this time is all most the same with that last time. It sounds so great. We will definitely have a easier workload. But the final audit in Jan 2009 might be terrible. Some of the key team members seem to be out of the team for the reason of job conflict. When I am assigning sections, I can not keep myself from considering about the final audit condition. It's hard. but, I can accept challenge within a certain expectation. Let's do it and make it through as smoothly as possible.
I'm now reading some glossary of accounting. Maybe go to take some exam like GMAT in several months. Actually, I'm not quite sure that what kind of job I'm really wanting. The easy saying is to make big money. Thereon, I can house myself, travel around the world and raise the family. Yep, once I was considering the MBA courses of finance. Whatever whether I take this course or not, English skill is a must, and good working experience is also an advantage. Keep a well-balanced attitude. Try more harder on learning language and CICPA as well. Right from the start, I will grow. 2008/8/16 Summer Key Word - JobAt the end, I still need to make some decision. I don't know what come out the best for myself. It's the life, that you never know what insight untill you step inside. Summer Key Word - CNRLast summer, I was in Changchun, doing the CNR. The summer, another northern city, Qiqihar of Heilongjiang, my long long CNR is still running. Really heavy workload, the incharge is also doing sales, costing & inventory sections... 2008/5/12 EarthquakeThe earthquake happened this afternoon. I can not imagine how people in Wenchuan is suffering, but they do. I don't how was the earthquake a predictable one or why not. However, it do happened, and caused great damage! Then the firm, of course, some kind of email is going to be sent by some partner LF in some days to financially support the Wenchuan People. It's human, but it's also just some bull shitting CSR products. Some partner asked me today right during the earthquake, that why I told him here had a earthquake happening. Why? May he thought I just wanna run away from the job. Anyhow, I was saving myself and reminding him kindly. After getting into the Safty Passage, it already filled with firm guys. Hehee~ Just like every morning in downstairs waiting the elevator. We moved great slowly! OMG, if there is a real damage in this building, I believe we all going to die, and no survivor! It's the way the firm moving their staff. Quite upset. 2008/5/8 KPMG 8GThe best marketing book tells that all salesman should do is to sell the idea to the ladies:D 2008/3/15 So Weekend AgainIt comes the weekend again. Just like other weekends in the peak season, weekend never means work-end, working keeps going on. The Beijing head office has call up for times querying about my section in costing and sales this morning, but all of these queries are quite easy ones. I'm still dealing with the detailed paper working in documentation. I do like to make some colourful one that also get easy to be followed for next period. Anyhow, try to get everything tidy within next week, since the return is on schedule. Soon, I'll return to my city. Then I might get the opportunity to have some days working in Plaza 66, in the comfort Shanghai Spring. Let's see. 2008/2/24 Where's the WeekendIt's the first weekend we suffered in QQHR. Yesterday, we had ten hours overtime working. And today, the hours may increase. Client's PBC is cheesy, but I'm not going to push the client so tensely, cause I'm not in any good state. Having been suffered too deeply in last engagement, even today I'm following the queries, I need some release, release myself from the endless disgusting jobs. 2008/2/1 Fucking Valin2007 is over. Also the first month of 2008 ends, too. What have I experience, all these damned engagements one by one. I'm quite upset to be enrolled in Valin again in this final. Three companies, three different type of industries and three weeks timecost again. Though I did hardclose for these three companies, still issues are issues. The management made no improvement at all, but our auditing team building got worse. I am quite wondering WHY, why I have to work on my own for so long, why the manager do not book junior to assist me at the beginning, why all pending adjustments or issues should be followed by myself, where is the manager?! Has anyone seen his working overtime?! It's ridiculous that we never insist in our journals. The client can always persuade the manager.
Another thing is the weather. It snows a lot in Changsha these weeks. The road is fozen. It's inconvenient to travel between hotel and client's office everyday. But we have to do so. Sigh~ May I should have changed the name of my space, such as Complaint Wall... 2007/12/25 Be A Good Incharge1. Always make arrangement in advance
2. Inquire, report and discuss any material issue with mgr timely
3. Assign more sections to junior staff. DO NOT hold everything in own hand
4. Get fleeback from team members over dairly working, and make proper reassignment if any
5. Review working paper at least one day before deadline, and write down the quiries in paper
6. Bargine with mgr over any insensible assignment and any timecost over-run
7. Obtain more PBC before field work and coach client how to deliver qualified PBC
8. Always list PBC, outstaning issues, etc, and less than daily push client to clear 9. Claim timecost and outlay timely, and make summary for mgr's review
10. Make everything perfect is impossible, just try to tidy the work on a sensible level 2007/12/15 No SubjectSo long that no blog made. I think the life is a little bit too busy to me. Heading to Changsha for the first time last month, I was involved in the engagement Valin again. Three weeks, three companies, it sounds not be so difficult. Actually, work is not easy at all. And to coach A1 is not an easy job also. After the field, I begun to follow A1's working, do had a lot of modification on their working papers. I can remember once I was an A1 on some team. My incharger will stay later help me updating the paper. It's good to recruit some many A1s into the firm. Two years later, we will surely to have more incharger to monitor various engagements. Hope all things will be better.
Shanghai is becoming cold these days. It's really hard to get up early everyday. Anyhow, annual leave is coming. It's a good chance to have a breakdown before the damned peak season. The year 2007 is a terrible year. CCS Jiangsu HK listing, CCS Shanghai QPR, CNR A-share Listing, Valin staturoy audit and BASF hardclose audit, one by one, my staffing is always quite full with them. Dept Three is a great department, with high level of auidt fee, low GA rate. Hehe, that may be why we can have a table next to VIP area in the annual dinner.
Yes, we had held annual dinner year in Guangda Expo Centre this year in Nov. We all thought the annual dinner is becoming worse and worse. Anyhow, it's good to see all my friends together on the dinner. We took a lot of pictures together. It's surprise to be told that some of them going to leave the firm. But it's true that the firm's practice is going downway. Besides the dinner, our dept had a welcome party last weekend in Park 97. We had many games and our team did a good job. I won the prize in Quiz round. Hah~ What a happy night! And after the party, some of us stayed in the bar for drinking and dancing untill the next day. The next day, our university classmates have a get-together in Xujiahui. We played Warcraft as what we always did when in campus. The we headed to KTV for singing and drinking. All of us got very very high. Finally, we turned to M-Factory and had two bottles of Chivas. It's nice to see we brothers hanging around together. Hey, Potato, you should have been in Shanghai this month!
Peak season is about to come. Looking into the staffing, I have Valin for one month, then CNR again for another one month. Shit happens! All A-Share listing engagement, all new PRC GAAP and all working paper in Chinese. I do not think that the job is helping in my career growth. I wanna have some IFRS jobs. Why no CTE in our group! Anyhow, the good news is that James seem to be the manager for all my final booking. But it won't be a long term deal for me to always engaged in these damned A-listing manufactory projects. I'm feeling tired about these companies. I have no interest at all. So, let's see. Leave or Stay. It depends. 2007/10/19 Farewell CNRI'm feeling bright and relieved now, in my only home, in the lovely Shanghai!
Changchun, it came very very cold during the week, but I had not had any winter cloth within my luggage. I tried to be staying indoors all day long. Yet, cold is cold. We even didn't have an air condition in the room. So terrible! Finally, I caught cold and choghed a lot. Anyhow, work had to be carried on. The deliverables got revised again and again. It's tired. I could only say some working process were really badly organised that made us repeat doing one simple thing times over!
As for the working paper, I hate others rebuild my papers, unless they can make all the papers tidy and tied. Unfortunately, the paper what I built in Aug had been updated to another face. I had to revised my sheets in order to make all them linked and tied to parts. If you wanna modified these working, why not get all related sheets updated and linked?! It costed time, we all knew. Once been told it would be easy to go along, then look insight page by page, it became ugly.
Sorry for leaving the team with so many outstanding points. I've tried very hard these days. Time is limited, I can only make them this way. I'm proud to get all papers together properly, and in such comparative little time. Wish all you good luck. Cheers~ Michael, the great leader of the field team. You are one of the most efficient incharge I've worked with. Todd, have you decided to stay with the firm or the Best CM? And Marino, Cloud, Mandy and Amy, havn't you found you are growing far more quickly than other fellows in office, +u+u! We must meet again some day! 2007/9/27 Now ConcernStaffing may already be finalized. No CTE I can involve anymore, as what I have worried about. So let's see what I have got now~ Oct is CNR, Nov is Valin, and Jan is Valin again. Sigh~ Though there are all big engagements, though I can charge a lot of overtimes, I am not satisfied with this staffing. Cause, I know clearly that the jobs are pretty hard ones. I may take only two A1s to Changsha for two companies in Valin group. It sounds terrible. The girl who prior incharge that company finally resigned in the early this year... 2007/9/24 Office JobBrowse my staffing everyday. It's not feeling good to see so many office jobs there. Also, it won't be efficient to reassign the engagement from group to group. Maybe, no one from my grade, my dept will have a chance to involve in CM or CTE anymore. Instead, just like my staffing, full of these office jobs. Bless all.
After the CICPA exam and the SAP training, I'm now in office perfroming several office jobs' audit planning work from Engelhard-BASF to JVC Trading to Toyo Tire. Thanks God that I have experienced CTE's QPR, and I'm familiar enough to cover these planning documentation.
We got to Nanbei Lake in Zhejiang last weekend, for dept outing this year. Though it rained a little bit, we had a quite happy weekend. We have had very colourful gaming to get all colleague together, singing, chatting and laughing. It's cool~ When returned to Shanghai on Sunday, some of us, best friends in my grading, we went to have Japanese cuisine in the night. We eated and drank a lot. Get very very satisfied. I like sea food so much~ |
