2008/4/30 Pekin April Fools (Part 3)Pekin's downtown is not broad. I walked through the street all these days staying in Pekin. I like walking, walking along the familiar or strange streets, walking under the sun. It feels good. The traffic in Pekin is as convenient as that in Shanghai, but the bus or metro tickets are much cheaper. Since I got up late every these days, I could not see how busy the roads would be in Pekin for the morning peak hours.
It's Day Five. I still have many great sposts outstanding for the trip, like the Xian'an Men Sq, the Forbidden City, the Beihai Park and etc. And today I dated Tao for a trip to the Jingshan Park and Pekin's famous Hutongs. We met at the Xian'an Men. It's my first come to this square during my trip. Since it's one of the most famous Pekin spots, I stopped a while and took many photos. Fortunately, it's good day with the nice blue in the sky. After gathering with Tao, we got upstairs onto the Xian'an Men gate town to have the full view of the square. I found the National Grand Theater. In the square, it's a building not quite agreeable. Pekin is so old a city, but the building is so fashion. Maybe it just shows the development of the city. We walked to the Jingshan Park, but not the forbidden City, then. Standing on the Jingshan's peak, I could see the whole Forbidden City. Yep, Jingshan is on the heart longitude of Pekin.
In the afternoon, we headed to the Gulou and Houhai. Houhai is just like the Yu Garden of Shanghai, full of foreign visitors. We just took a quick stay, then Tao leaded me to another local hutong whose name is Nanluogu Xiang. There has many interest shops along the hutong. And the buildings around are quite Pekin. The last stop for today's is the Sanlitun, the famous pub street on Pekin. Tao recommended the Bookworm, a bar filled with books. We had a short rest and reading there, before a dinner in the Banana Leaf. Tao works for D&G now in Pekin. It sounds good, although I have almost no understanding in this fashion brand. It's little bit suprised to head of her leaving Shanghai for Pekin months ago. Time passed by. It's happy to see she already have had a nice job and life here. Keep up and good luck! (TBC) 2008/4/28 Pekin April Fools (Part 2)The days staying in Pekin are getting far and far away. Time passes so quickly and can never be recoverable. I begin to miss the city, begin to have feeling over it, for the high wall in Forbidden City, for the clean water in Summer Palace, and for the sunset aside these old streets. I should have stayed more days there to feel more about the city, but I did not. Anyhow, I'll back again.
It comes bright weather in Shanghai these days. The Sunshine is big and warm. But I find the sky is not blue enough, as the sky in Pekin during April Fool's. Yep, it might be the most blue sky in Pekin for a year time, said one of my Pekin friends, Tao. It's really a good chance for me to take down the most beautiful Pekin in pictures. And I did so.
It came Day Three, a clean sunny day, but the wind is pretty wild. And I choosed the Summer Palace for the visit today. Actually, it came out to be a bad decision, cause of the wild wild wind! As usual, I took Metro Line 2 and arrived Qian Men for catching a bus No. 826 there. It's not a good decision too. I might rely on the Metro more, since the bus took quite a lot of time jamming across the Xidan Area. Finally, I got the Summer Palace and the student ticket again. Lucky~ The Park is so big. I spent almost half day for cycling the Kunming Lake, and I felt sick about the damned wind. It occured me the trip once in Dongqian Lake Ningpo. Big lake and big wind, sigh~ As for the Longevity Hill, I just took a quick slip with limited time before close-out.
Then I took bus back forwards to the PKU, the most famous university of this country. And my camera went out-of-power again during my sightseeing. Actually, I never feel confident over Sony's batteries. The T7, the NE20. both of them are poor at long distance running. Walking in the PKU campus, I found the campus is quitely like NJU and FDU, with tall trees and lecture rooms built during Republic. It's a school day, putting meself in a crowd of students. Young faces were passing through quickly. How I miss these days, the campus days.
Day Four, I realized that my sight process was really creeping. I had the Great Wall for today only, since I got up so late, and took the wrong bus as well. It's sad. I should had done more homework or just asked for more help. Standing on the Wall, people are all around you, yellow, white and black, hehe. I understood why Ctrip's BBS not recommanding us comning here, SO MANY people! I climbed up and down and spent short time on the Wall, then headed back to the downtown, to the KPMG Beijing Office.
It's great coincidence that I met Marino with a KPMG bag on Metro Line 2 on Tuesday. And I visited the Office to see Michael and Marino, some of the CNR Changchun team friends. The Office is bigger than which in Shanghai. And I took a photo under KPMG Logo, just like what I did in HK Office. I like this firm, though the firm itself is going down way, especially in staff benefits in Shanghai. More and more engagement mgrs or pars are not respecting staff's hard working. They never say thanks. They just get pushing on the team. Stop, these complaint should not belong to Pekin. Back to the travel. Michael and Marino treated me to a meal in Donglaishun near the Office. It's another famours Pekin restaurant brand, just second to Quanjude. The food was OK. After the dinner, I walked around the Oriental Plaza and Wangfujin St. And the conclusion was Shanghai's the Better Shopping World. (TBC) 2008/4/20 Pekin April Fools (Part 1)After a busy peak season, I had a chance to stay in Pekin for a couple of days. Thanks Jinming and our CNR team. Actually I was quite happy working with some many nice friends, though the job itself was damned hard. We had endless queries from Beijing headoffice. And in my opinion of veiw, most of them were not reasonable enough. Anyhow, it's the KPMG Way. We just do our jobs. Let it be. To me, I still like this engagement. Compared with Valin, CNR is quite a sound from Heaven~
I was lucky to have some annual leave during the week April Fools. Then the same week I was released from CNR. I stayed in Pekin for some days. It's my second time I came Pekin. The first time might be in my age 10 years old. Just a little kid, but I still remember the young trip there, the Tian'anmen Sq, the Great Wall, the Temple of Heaven, and the Forbidden City. It's good to visit these Great China's Again.
The flight was from Harbin to Pekin on Mondy, 31 March 2008. Taken the suttle bus from Airport to downtown, I saw the building of FMPRC, a very newly-built fashon town. Arrival at the Homeinn in Xuanwu Men late in afternoon, it took me not a short time to have checked into my room. A quick settle, I headed to the Temple of Heaven. People know China or Pekin about the Forbidden City, the Great Wall or Tian'an Men, but I like the Temple of Heaven most. It's the place where the Kings asked for heavy harvest and pleaceful growth from the Heaven. But I went there asking for nothing, only cause of my liking in the wonderful China-Made architecture and the big blue sky there. Sitting on the stairs, looking at the sunset, having nothing considering in my mind. What a peaceful moment. Then at dinner time, I met Mandy, a friend of another CNR team, CNR Changchun. We went to the "Ghost" St, a street like Wujiang Rd in Shanghai, with many eating houses. Thanks Mandy for your kindly treatment, and greatly welcome your trip Shanghai, Hehe~
April 1st, the day of Leslie Chueng, yep, we still remember you. It's coincident that I also bought one CD of leslie, the Printemps, in Pekin's FAB. It's a cloudy rainy day and I went to see the the National Stadium which alos called Bird-Nest. The CIP is road-blocked by Police. Of course, it should be. There could be some potential attack to this Opening Hall of Beijing Olympic. Then I went to the National Aquatics Center, the Water Cube. It also got blocked. Taken a short loook and I found a bus back to downtown around the Yonghe Lama Temple. Just like the comments on Ctrip's BBS, the Temple has a lot of foreign visitors. The Imperial College (Guozijian) and Confucius Temple is quite nearby the Lama Temple. They had been newly repaired. I could see fresh red paint on all pillars and doors. Not like. Refering the Baidu Map, I took a bus No.13 heading to the Di'an Men to find a very famous CD shop named Fusheng, but it disappointed me. I had roasted duck for dinner in Dashilar this day. Just ok, a little bit greasy. (TBC) 2008/4/9 My Movie List 2008My Movie List - Keep Updated ( Boring * ----> Wonderful ***** )

Though following work is still in process this week, it seems quite easy and relaxing. Just hope such kind of days could last as long as possible. Now I'm uploading pictures taken during these months in Changsha, in Qiqihar, in Harbin and in Pekin. Really has a great number of photos. And I find my Sony Camera has taken exceeded 6400 pictures since I bought it in Spring 2006. It's cool~ |
